Ryn Escarra Cypher is an independent consultant specializing in research operations, analytics, digital transformation, and experience strategy for non-profit organizations and mission-driven SMBs. After forming her own practice in 2018, she's signed on to projects that share a commitment to social good and demonstrably deliver on that promise. Since 2019, she's also served as Chief Data Officer and Head of Strategic Operations at ProHabits, an HRtechnology startup focused on sustaining leadership development and behavior change initiatives for SMEs worldwide.
Prior to consulting, she gained hands-on experience working in web development and informatics exemplifying adaptability and growth potential in highly conceptual and analytical roles. Earlier in her career, Ryn served as lab manager for the Emotion and Cognition Laboratory where she oversaw two grants from the National Institute of Health (NIH, R01) and National Science Foundation (NSF, SES), and successfully co-wrote a grant proposal for the National Institute of Health/Aging’s call for exploratory research on the mitigating effects of affect-based interventions on biomarkers of Alzheimer’s Disease progression. She has co-authored publications featured in the Journal of Child and Family Studies and Journal of Experimental Psychology.
Collaborative, trustworthy and a generous team-player, Ryn maintains a “can do” attitude and focuses on achieving exceptionally high-quality and detailed results for her clients. She has a strong ability to engage, evaluate and articulate motivations and organizational dynamics across sectors.
Ryn graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and completed graduate studies in human-computer interaction, engineering, and bioinformatics from DePaul University, Northwestern University, and The University of Chicago. She is an active member of the ResearchOps community, Chicago Council on Global Affairs Young Professional Network, and serves as a policy research volunteer for the Grassroots Law Project. Ryn lives in Chicago with her partner and two dogs. She enjoys chess, running, yoga, and cooking.
